We left the small town with the church, etc., and headed off for the capital city, Illiostal. On the way we encountered some orcs, trouble in the towns along the way (including price-gouging pricks), and threatened a ferryman with his life. His rates got a lot more reasonable after that.

We are in the capital now, and a thief we encountered along the way has managed to get ahead of us--somehow. He doesn't seem to notice us, but he's very suspicious.

When we talk to the king--and getting an audience may be difficult--he'll have some cash for us. Then we'll sell magic items, get ready to train up the wizards, and go about our next adventure, whatever it may be. Rumor has it, it may deal with a missing princess...

Kylael, Anawaya at her side, sat cross legged in the center of her room. A soft hum reverberated off the walls as a soft light coalesced around the praying pair. Kylael's filled with tears as she thought of the sacrifice that Wyngar had chosen. The very sacrifice that she now prayed to Denev about.

We got into the mines, found the obelisk where the Vortex resided...we made our way through a bunch of traps and monsters, then got into the final room where Wyngar disabled the Vortex while the rest of us kept some crystal golems off him. He decided to destroy all the psionic critters and stuff around, but it destroyed himself as well. He will be spending his time in a Dreamscape that's a pale shadow of Tanil's garden...

And the rest of us will have to take care of Alor, because he's gonna be pissed now that Wyngar--his safe passage back out of Vesh--is gone. And Osbourne, because he will be mad that the most awesome psionic toy ever was just destroyed without Osbourne there to see it.

Troi sat on his bed in the dojo. He had packed up his jewelcrafting supplies, and moved everything to the corners of the room, stacking them as high as they would go. The majority of the room was clear.

He sighed. "I can do this." He said quietly. "I can do this."

Wyngar lied his way down into the obsidian mines where he saw part of the Cortex Vortex...Barth invited him to join their circle because apparently he's potentially the closest of all to the Slerecians, but all he had to do was kill Osbourne because the halfling's a risk of ratting out the circle. Wyngar just has to prove his loyalty.

We convinced Osbourne to stick his consciousness into the crystal and we'll put him back later. The Order of the Closed Fist showed up to take Wyngar away for questioning, and while they were there, they took information concerning Osbourne's untimely demise. Hopefully that doesn't bite us as well...

[ Warjilis Trade City, Lionel ]

Dawn. The sun had finally crested above the ridgeline of the mountains to the east of Warjilis Trade City, a port city that had been built by both Ronkan and Colianthic hands. The city was a symbol of their friendship, the only place in the world where east and west truly mingled. Nearly every merchant from either nation who did business with the other came through this magnificent city, a blended mix of two seemingly-opposite cultures.

The technologists and "greasemonkies," as they called themselves, had been hard at work on the Thalassian, a 'walker of epic proportions, for the past two years. Standing at fifty feet tall, as wide as a building, limbs as thick as tree-trunks, the Thalassian would be the first 'walker of its size. Unlike other 'walkers, however, the Thalassian had no visible armaments: no guns, no harpoons, no swords. Instead, carabini - arcanically-treated orichalcum - had been inlaid into the plating of the 'walker, which would allow it to invoke magical energies, just as wizards and sorcerers did. The 'walker had no need for conventional weaponry when it could blast the foes of the Empire with fire and lightning; and while the Woodland League had been vanquished over a century ago, the Empire most certainly still had foes, be it monstrosities from the wastes of the Lost or the guerrila movement of the remaining druids hidden within the forests.

The room was resplendent with the toys and furnishings only little girls could find appealing. Adorning one whole side of the room was a large four poster bed. It's pink and white curtains blowing lightly in the breeze coming in the open window.

Leaning against the back of the bed sat a little girl of maybe seven. Her raven black hair was tied back as was the hair of the very ornate doll she held within her hands. It was probably a scene that was taking place all over the country side on this bright morning. Except the other children in the kingdom, did not have King Jortieg for a father.

We found out that there is a group of psions in the city of Lokil, and they're trying to get some Slerecian artifacts from below the city. They have compromised Osbourne but feel he's no threat, and disregard Kylael's meager psionic abilities. However, they don't know that Wyngar's a psion.

Soon we'll get to see some sage (who's also in this secret group, unfortunately) who may be able to help us. The question is, what information will they get from *us*?

Good game this Friday, everyone. I hope you feel that the new system of handling combat (google docs) is an improvement.

You prevented the Red Serpent from stealing the dragon idol, helped defeat some big baddies outside, and took care of your own enemies inside. You get 650 XP total.

The next day, we go to bury Wendel's body. On the way back, we notice some activity just outside of town. It turns out to be a man leaving on horseback, and the priest of Belsameth and another man. Kylael goes to listen in, and they are talking about the "fake" priest of Belsameth, and the need to capture him. Great. No matter what else, you just can't trust a priest of Belsameth.

Talking with Jason the other night, he said that it is "very likely" that he won't be running the Vampire game next cycle.

I've volunteered to take the spot, if it comes to pass that he can't run.

However, that means I've only got three or four weeks to prepare. I wasn't planning on running anytime soon, since Mike took the Fallout spot. I should be able to hammer something out in that small allotment of time, but it will probably be a bit of a rough start.

Since I've only got three weeks, I'm going to be running this game in my homebrew setting, called Trinity. Trinity isn't quite fantasy and not quite sci-fi; it's somewhere in-between. I'll be working on a primer of sorts, that will attempt to introduce the setting and its key concepts, so that everyone can get at least get acquainted with the setting; the link for that primer will be put up here, when I get it done. If you want an immediate idea of what Trinity is like, check out the overview page.

Trinity also has a wiki, found here. There is quite a bit of information out there, though admittedly little setting information (as compared to game mechanics); it is not necessary for anybody to read the wiki, though any pertinent information will be put on a wiki page specifically for this game, here.

I've done quite a bit of tinkering with game mechanics, and as such there is a lot of stuff out there - we've got over 50 base classes and 30-some races. What I'm thinking of doing right now would limit the class and race selection to relatively sane numbers. Also, I've done away with a few core classes in my own games (the cleric, fighter, and monk, specifically), though I imagine I'll be allowing those in the event that I run, to reduce the acclimation time. In general, I'll try to remove the mechanical additions to the setting, though some need to be retained - I'll try to make it as painless as possible.

We got to Vashon, which was great...then we bit hard on a plot hook and got captured by Antius, head battlemage of Calastia. Instead of killing us, he offered us a job (or exile). We chose exile because the term of the job was until we died--at least, if not longer than that.

We then made tracks to Lokil and got there relatively event-free. Next time, we need to find some info on Wyngar's condition.

Being completely exhausted, we pile up the gear from Kelgarond, and settle in for some sleep. The next day, eveyone but myself and Alor talk to the townsfolk. Kylael shoots back to Treela, and it sounds like they went through a huge panic because the plague turned up there. She says the rioting is over there, but I'm still more than a little nervous about going back there so soon.

We finished up in the small town, looked at some psionic lootz, then decided to go back to Trela. There, we caused some trouble...some of us wanted to burn the temple to Belsameth down, some of us wanted to make the priest look like a fool without getting him killed, and some of us just wanted to skip town.

We ended up making a huge mess in the city but kept anyone else from dying. Now just as long as no other priests of Belsameth show up in the next 12 hours, it's all good...
