Sakura found herself sitting at her desk, staring out her window. As a light breeze gently swayed the curtains. It was night time in Roanoke and most everyone else in the city was asleep. But sleep was the furthest thing from her mind.
Follow up:
She had tried to sleep earlier, but the events of the last few days were far more worrisome, no aggravating, then she cared to admit. Just who would of thought there were dark skinned aborigines that lived underground. Or the octopus people that nearly killed Troi.
It seemed like they had been trying to solve this riddle for months. Though in truth it had been less then two weeks. And.. they had made some progress, but very little in her mind. Yes they had freed the slaves. The tortured people from both worlds, above and below. Taken to do the bidding of some dark under earth master. Yes they had blown up a store of munitions that would have sold or used against them. They even had killed some of the monstrous creatures that served the master willingly. Whoever this master was.
But they still did not know who the connection was at Packham Industries. The power armor and weapons produced at Packham. Had already been used against the Roanoke Police. And according to a recent news cast, they were now using it to rob banks in town. Sakura sighed as she remembered those strange dark skinned aborigines. They to were under attack in their underworld cities. It was fairly obviuos that this "master" wanted control both above ground and below.
Sakura pulled her diary down from it's shelf, flipped it open and began to write.
Dear Prince,
We could use your strength and smile during these troubled times. Recently we have encountered all kinds of nefarious creatures. From crocs that can swallow you whole to octopus men that live in the dark underground.
I dream of you charging through the dark caverns. What little light there is, glittering off your white stallion's flanks. Your sword cleanly severing the head off the one they call boss...
Sakura picked the pen up off the paper, laughing at her own childish whimsy. It had been several years since she had written to her dream prince. She wasn't sure why she did so now. Only that it soothed her jangled nerves. She thought of the challenge they made to the "master" through his servants. Certain that they would be taken up on their offer to meet soon.
Sakura grimaced. Knowing the "master's" ability to control minds. They just might need her prince. She turned back to her diary.
It is only you my prince that can save me from my destiny..
