Came here as a petitioner, was a formerly powerful mage in the church of Weijass.
His devotion to Weijass was recognized early on, Weijass herself called him into service and put him to task to help build up her libraries, which were already considerable since they'd been here over 500 years.
Follow up:
A few highlights of his arcane study, how he increased his knowledge through the library. He notes how he worked his way up over time through the appropriate murder, etc, where necessary. He was granted knowledge of his mortal life by Weijass after showing sufficient dbtvtion.
At some point in the middle of his logs, he reaches a crisis of faith; at some point she revealed that she was not the ancient pre-cataclysmic god. He threw off his belief system, until finally he seemed to renew his dbtvtion to the new weijass, the one that would understand and solve what is wrong with this world.
Those with godly powers here, really arent. Powerful demons, devils, etc. Stuff we already knew.
Talks about construction of the tower, etc.
His tower is outside the halls due to paranoia about the clerics, philispohical differences. The portal in the next room connects to the entrance halls of the main church. Others had similar portals (his peers).
His most recent notes show shock and dismay that Weijass herself manifested herself on the prime material and destroy her. (/guilt) He helped her harness the powers of a former god called Zagyg, and then those meddling mortals destroyed her. Notes go on : main church has entities that are memories of weijass, essenses of weijass; no soul. generally don't allow contact. Servents sent it to communicate were mangled/deformed/destroyed. He seems to have narrowed it down to 4 main entities: Hubressa (memory of her work before she came here), Organessa (essence of her studies of magic), Secuctessa (Twisted form of her lusts), Galdressa (unknown). Has not been able to put weijass back together, and the plane and lack of control is causing chaos to form in the plane. His tower is locked down so he can continue his research. He refers to a new head of the church of weijass (she was recently deceased from the mortal world, but a favored high cleric who was immediately promoted to a powerful Aernys. She has been despondant, lost hope, has not been much hope). Her name is Dantessa Naroo.
He has been in denial that, with all his knowledge, that she has been destroyed, that only mere memories remain that will fade over time. Clerics won't be able to access divine spells; Devils have been trying to take over (but he has research that shows that the plane will just fade and be sucked into the plane of negative energy). He had been avoiding several tests that would be definitive, but it is now time to see if they prove anything (holy symbol test).
The talking keys are what allow him access to the inner part of the church. For the keys to work, they must be reasoned with. Without the keys, the traps of the church will destroy intruders.
We go through the gate and bluff the guards there. We head down the halls of portals and aquire a restraining collar for the Djanni. We are between the inner and outer temple complex.
As we wait for a collar, we watch the main hall; we see people having sex; we see a dark elf that looks by B'durna, but i notice it is not b'durna, it is someone who has altered themselves to look like b'durna. I cast dispel magic, and we discover it is an Eryns. We call her over, and confiscate the stone. She tells us she has just finished her duty and was about to hand the stone off to Ganysha.
In the rooms ahead there are lewd acts happening. There seems to be four distinct areas plus some other rooms that are studies, dens, etc. We check out the torture room, but no Claris.
We get to the front church. There is an imp here. He says to us: Compels Him to Continue. No one Has Come to Relieve His Shift. Kill Me Please. We 'relieve' him, letting him leave the complex. We take the book for loot (100gp).
We use some magical scrying to see into her complex. Dantessa is there, a stunningly beautiful Eryns. She seems to be agitated and pacing. "No more peeking, Kevis" - she casts dispel magic.
Walking by a bit later "How much longer must I keep doing this? How much longer must I keep them together? How long before she reforms?"
We decide to go check out the tower. Floor 1 is unadorned; We try to go to floor 2 and we encounter heavy mists; we use the keys to get through them; it is noticibly chill here. We move through about 30 feet. The surface below our feet turns to snow as the mists start to clear; we are on a hillside beneath a pale white orb of a sun burning down on snow-covered icy hills. Below us, a massive army of devils throngs back and forth to itself, cheering and banners flying. Behind us, higher on the hill is a large army of planetars and solars and glowing knights on glowing celetial horses, at the head of which is a glowing planetar - wings unfurled, light shining down on the forces below. The door we came from isn't there. The voice rings loud and clear: it is the voice of weijass, pumping them up for victory, to secure this place in the name of Rau, a great blow against the forces of evil in the blood war. Rau was the god of knowledge and wisdom from before the cataclysm. This is an area known as the outlands, an area of neutrality where the forces of good and evil battle each other.
Move! She commands us. We stand there. "Then I shall make you move" - she sends critters to attack "We shall show you your place and then we shall talk!", her response when I ask to parlay. 4 Dire Celestial Bears attack us.
We fight our way through the bears and then engage in dialogue with the Celestial. Eventually Smiley is able to convince her that you cannot be good without compassion. I was a great leader of armies. Many fled before me. Many that I knew as friends. You are clouding my judgement. Begone! Mists well up around us...
There is a planar penalty: -2 if not evil, -2 if not lawful
