I guess I have a mass performance in my future....swell.
We take the next week to rest up and heal our strength damage. Soloman receives a note from the Pathfinder Society that they want to meet with us. A few days later, I notice that Cluddox got angry at someone, and I talk to him about it. He says that he is starting to lose control about when he gets angry. He also mentioned that Solomon has been more fascinated with fire lately. Then Camlo and Cesar start having a conversation. Camlo is pretty anti-social, saying that Cesar is creepy and Soloman is crazy. Time to go see the father, I think. Maybe we picked up a curse on that temple.
We round everyone up and have the acolyte get the Father. He speaks with each of us about the effects that we endured since getting back from the Temple. The Father gives me some things to think about, and I thank him.
The next day, the person from the Pathfinder Society arrives. Solomon and myself meet with him, and we tell him a little bit about our adventure to the ThistleTop castle. He mentions that the Thassalonian runes can be perverted to evil, away from what they may have been intended for. He mentions to me that I have a keen mind, and said that I would make an excellent member of the society. He leaves us a couple of scrolls.
We (most of us anyway) spend more time at the chapel. Solomon disappears, and we hear rumors of a large fire and smoke up on Chopper’s Isle.
After another week’s reflections, I get the sense that Desna is sad for me, and that I did not say any words above the bodies of the goblins before harvesting them. She recommends that I recognize within myself that I am in conflict with Goodness, and much of this taint can be removed by a recognition of the art and beauty and song. I need to sing the goblin song in front of a crowd of at least 50 to remove this taint. I talk to the owner of the theater and setup an audition.
The next day, the sheriff comes and tells us about a couple sets of murders, and wants us to investigate. One of the bodies had a note with Cluddox’s name on it. One of the victims was the eldest daughter of the main merchant in town (the older sister of the girl Solomon tried to sleep with).
We head to the sawmill (where the murders occurred). It has been shut off, and we smell the lingering scent of decay in the air. The bodies are pretty badly torn up. It seems that one of the victims was able to get some licks in on their attackers with an axe that we found. On closer inspection, it seems that the axe is the source of the terrible odor in here. There is no magic traces anywhere in the mill. We are able to track that the attacker came from the water, climbed the wall, and then killed the people. But, we can’t find any way to track the attacker on the way out.
