Looks like the next stop is Magnamar....
After paralyzing several of us, we manage to take him down. We’re all sickened being in this room. Foxglove’s body dissolves into mold on the ground. We rummage through his stuff. I go and look at the box, which looks familiar to the ones in the stained glass, but this one is broken. There is fungus growing again faster from the box. The shape of the fungus is stretching to the box. He even has a cameo of Cluddox. Ugh. Looking around the room, there is a portrait of Iesha Foxglove here, as well as a small silver keyring. Also, we notice that the fungus near the doorway hides a mold-encrusted wand.
We search the last remaining hallway on the way out, and we encounter a room with a large, dire bat. We manage to take it out. It was feasting on several bodies in this room. There is a faint spot of light coming from the corner of the cavern in the ceiling. Two of the human bodies are long dead, the third is fairly recent. The light is coming from the ceiling, which appears to be the bottom of a well. This area seems to be more recently broken into. We go back to the front doors, and web the crows in place. Some manage to break free, but we are able to get to our horses and run away.
We return to Sandpoint and go to the church, to be placed under Fr. Zanthis’ care. We have our diseases treated, all except Cesar and Cluddox. They succumbs to the rat disease, but Fr. Zanthis is able to continue treating them. During the treatment, the results of Cesar eating the black mold occur: it’s the same as being bit by the rats. Man, that guy really failed when attempting to become a lich.
While the others are healing, I am fine, so I head out to one of the pubs for the pre-show publicity. The show goes well, and I feel the dark taint wear off. We talk with the mayor and sheriff the next day, and let them know about everything that happened. They take some exception to our idea of burning the Foxglove mansion down, since there is still an evil there. We tell them about some notes that we found that point to a connection in Magnamar.
We stay in town for another week, partly to let Cluddox to heal his Constitution wounds, and to also affirm the story that the mayor and sheriff are telling the people. During the week, the paladin comes by and is impressed by our actions. He would like to give us something that could help in our fight against the evils: Abbadar’s Rod of Lesser Healing. Up to 3 times per day, it will heal up to 50 hp of damage, but it involves a complex activation of invoking Abbadar, talking about the powers of order. For each round of counting, it bestows 1 hp. This uses up one of the healing charges. The Intelligence DC to do this is 12. Worth 5000 gp, and we should return it to the church of Abbadar should the group disband.
